Largest hackathon ever held in automotive industry

New ideas on “Mobility of the Future” wanted! Therefore, Volkswagen Group IT launched the “codeFEST8” – a competition for aspiring programmers, designers and creatives who develop in only 28 hours software of the future.

“codeFEST8” happend from 6th to 8th of March 2015, at eight universities and in three countries simultaneously. This has never happened before in the automotive industry and was the biggest hackathon in this branch. The winning teams from the preliminary round travelled in mid-March to CeBIT to compete in the grand finale. The total prize money was more than 25.000 €.

Venues were: RWTH Aachen, TU Berlin, TU Braunschweig, TU Dresden, TU Munich, Vienna University of Technology, ETH Zurich and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Have a look: www.volkswagen-codefest.de
